Apple has done a wonderful thing for the blind community and for those who aren't that familiar with smart phones. For years, there has not been a phone on the market that was completely accessible for the blind consumer. Thus leaving us in the dark in regards to the technology.
Which brings me back to Apple, with their creation of the IPhone we are now able to function as freely as a sighted smart phone user. With the introduction of two key features, "Voice Over" and "Siri". We are not only able to send text messages, but we are given the ability to both access and send email either through dictation, using key commands and a wireless keyboard. These very same functions can be used on both the IPad, as well as the IPod. I truly believe that Apple has given the blind community back their full independence in regards to having the ability to access both the social media sites, as well as, ordinary tasks such as, email and communicating with family.
The "App store", is a wonderful place with both free and apps that may be purchased. The apps can be both fun and educational that would depend upon your preference.
